Rock crystal fascinated the ancients to the point that Pliny the Elder believed it was ice so hardened by cold that it could no longer melt, and its Greek name, krystallos, means precisely ice. A stone of transparency and light, it has been carved into both crystal balls and reliquaries. The lithotherapy tradition has made it the stone of amplification, associated with all the chakras and said to strengthen the energy of other stones.
